Introduction:
My name is Waqar Ahmed Khan Sherwani. Most of my family (Grand parents, uncles, aunts etc.)
live in Khangarh Distt: Muzaffargarh.(So I belong to Khangarh?) My father's family migrated
from Malerkota, East Punjab in 1948.
I was born in Quetta, Pakistan on Sep 16
(Virgo).
Life's been pretty active since then.
This is how it goes: 1 year in Quetta, few years in Risalpur and Peshawar and then spent two and a
half wonderful years in Dacca (East Pakistan) with my family (My father was in Pakistan Air Force).
I still love that part of my country.
Though I was very young at the time of fall of Dacca, I still remember most of the
detail from that dark period of our history.
We became POW (prisoners of war) after the fall of East Pakistan and were taken to Allahabad, India. Stayed
there for 19 months. We were in camp 38 and my POW number was 38/0128.
Our "second life" started at Peshawar. I appeared for admission test for Cadet College, HasanAbdal.
I succeeded and spent 5 years(1975-80) studying there. Most of my memories, day-dreams, friends, belong to
those years of my life.
Abdalian Once,
Abdalian Forever!
I did well in FSc exams (like everyone else in my entry at Cadet College) and got admitted to Civil Engineering
degree at University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore.
My thoughts, concepts, goals, went through a major re-structuring when my
dad died, in Sep '83, in a Gulf Air 737-200 plane crash near Dubai. It was a
terrorist act. A bomb exploded in the
baggage compartment during approach to Abu Dhabi. The crash killed all 111 passengers and six crew members.
Life went on anyway. After graduating from the UET, I started my first job at Haramain(Pvt) Ltd., Islamabad, then worked for REMCO in Lahore
and in 1990 joined Military Engineer Services as Assistant Executive Engineer. Got married and blessed with two kids, the elder is daughter
Hira and the younger is son Fawad.
I went to United States in 1995 for doing Master in Computer Information Systems(MCIS) from
University of Denver. Got job in MCI after completion of studies. MCI got bought by a merger merchant, Bernie Ebbars
and later went down with WorldCom into Chapter 11. I bailed out and started working for a startup software company,
Voyence Inc.
In 2004, I moved back to Pakistan after spending 9 wonderful years in USA.
I kept working for Voyence for a while and then joined Sereniti Inc. a Jersey City, NJ based company, working remotely from Pakistan.
I have recently joined MetaApp, a Silicon Valley company based in Lahore.
